Babies who look like their fathers are healthier!

Jan 21 , 2020

Researchers say a child who look alike their fathers are healthier:

No toddler is different, they all are lovely, but researchers say that some babies have an advantage in terms of gaining attention and health benefits, especially if they look like their father.

The findings published in the Journal of Health Economics shows that infants who look like their fathers at birth are more likely to spend time with their father and in turn, they become healthier when they reach their first birthday.  Research also suggests that father-child resemblance induces a father to spend more time engaged in positive parenting.

Solomon Polachek, a professor at the Binghamton University in New York said: “Fathers are important in raising a child and this manifests itself in the health of the child,”. He further added, “Those fathers that perceive the baby’s resemblance to them are more certain the baby is theirs and thus spend more time with the baby”.

The findings also showed that fathers spend 2.5 days more per month with children they resemble.

The study implicates the role of father’s time in maintaining child’s health. Also, the study supports policies for encouraging fathers to engage in frequent positive parenting to improve the childhood health of their kid.
